General Mills Q1 Sales Fall 3% as Net Earnings Drop 67%

General Mills (GIS) reported fiscal 2027 first-quarter net sales of $4.4 billion, down 3% from a year earlier, while net earnings attributable to the company fell 67% to $397 million. Diluted earnings per share were $0.74, compared with $2.22 in the prior-year quarter.

The company reaffirmed its full-year fiscal 2027 outlook. The prior-year period included a $1.05 billion divestitures gain primarily related to the sale of its U.S. yogurt business.

  • Reported operating profit was $633.6 million, down 63% year over year.
  • North America Retail sales declined 7% to $2.45 billion; International sales rose 4% to $794.3 million.
  • North America Foodservice sales increased 1% to $523.1 million, while North America Pet sales were essentially flat at $612.8 million.
  • General Mills expects fiscal 2027 organic net sales to range from a 1.5% decline to 0.5% growth.
  • The company projects adjusted diluted EPS of $3.00 to $3.20 for fiscal 2027.
